Every school day begins with Bible class in which our students not only learn Bible stories and biblical principles, but also learn how to apply those principles to their own lives. Students are challenged to have a daily walk with God and to hide God’s Word in their hearts. You will be amazed at the ability of your child to memorize Scripture. On Thursdays, our students look forward to chapel time where they sing songs, play fun games, and hear preaching.
We believe that the way students communicate through their speech and writing reflects upon their character. Because of this, we have a strong emphasis on language and grammar. Lower elementary students learn correct sentence structure, proper word usage, as well as important phonetic rules. As students enter upper elementary, they begin to recognize the parts of speech and to properly apply their knowledge of the English language in essays and reports.
We desire our students to develop a love for reading at an early age. Because our students are taught to read through phonetics, they have the tools to decipher and sound out new words and to quickly recognize words they have already been exposed to. This leads to higher reading fluency and independent reading at an early age.
During history class, students get to travel in time from ancient civilizations to modern day events. They will learn how the past has shaped their present and how the present is deciding their future. We emphasize that our nation was founded upon Biblical principles and that the best way to be a good citizen is to be a godly Christian.
Each week our elementary students enjoy participating in our music class. Here they learn basic music theory, how to match pitch, and eventually how to sing in parts. The elementary choir has the opportunity to perform at our annual Christmas program and graduation. In addition to music class, fourth graders get to participate in a weekly recorder class where they learn the basics of playing an instrument. Fifth and sixth graders have the choice to continue their instrumental training by being a part of beginner band.
